Our roots...
We’ both from big families (huge actually). Family events and family celebrations are a big part of our lives. Meg’s parents created their family through adoption, so we know first-hand that adoption can make a
wonderful, close-knit and loving family. Between the two of us we have
11 siblings, 22 nieces and nephews, 2 grand-nephews, and 8 godchildren.

MEG’S FAMILY by Meg: My parents created our family by adopting
2 children and giving birth to 2 children. It was a lively house to grow up in because both my mom and dad are very musical and my sister and brothers also played musical instruments. I was more into arts and sports, but have a great love of music thanks to my childhood surrounded by music and singing. Today, I talk with my parents and siblings on the phone, email and video Skype several times a week and we visit each other as often as we can throughout the year. My niece and nephews are all so unique with so many different interests around sports, music, science, arts and nature. Because our two families are so big, Dave and I spend the Christmas holidays alternating between them each year — Thanksgiving with my family and Christmas with his (or vice versa). Every summer my parents, siblings, and all of their kids get together for a summer vacation at my parent’s summer house at the beach in New England. Now that we’re all grown up, my parents are all about the grand kiddos! They're so excited that we'll soon be adoptive parents ourselves and can’t wait to welcome the newest member of the family.

DAVE’S FAMILY by Dave:  I have eight brothers and sisters and, needless to say, growing up just outside New Orleans with eleven people in one house was a bit of a circus, but a fun one. Over the years we’ve spread out all over the U.S. but we’re an extremely close family and talk every week (every day if you include email). We love to get together for family celebrations and during the holidays (or Jazz Fest!). New Year’s Eve is always a festive occasion with us. Although, New York is home, New Orleans will always be one of my favorite stomping grounds. Sadly, my father passed away, but my mother is a rock. When people hear she gave birth to nine children and say "She’s a saint", I tell them they have no idea of how right they are. She has been a constant source of strength, inspiration and wisdom. And she can’t wait to welcome her fifteenth grandchild!
